COPA Lagos 2017 Set to be the Ultimate Beach Soccer Experience

Mega brands like First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Pepsi, Hero Lager Beer, and Wakanow – Nigeria’s foremost travelling agency will be sponsoring this year’s edition of the Copa Lagos Beach Soccer!

COPA Lagos is set to promote tourism in Lagos and Nigeria. COPA Lagos positions Nigeria for hosting the Beach Soccer World Cup. It has gotten the attention of FIFA and they have sent their best representatives to the event to scout for the best local beach soccer talents in Lagos State.

This year’s event will feature the Club Challenge that will consist of the Pepsi Football Academy, selected Lagos-based beach soccer sides and a variety of celebrity Matches between ex-internationals and popular Nigerian celebrities. The International Teams’ Challenge will feature the Nigerian Beach Soccer Team - the Super Sand Eagles, the National Beach Soccer Teams of Lebanon and The Netherlands and a fourth country that has never been at the event before will soon be announced.

Samson Adamu, Managing Director of Kinetic Sports said while speaking at the Press Conference: “This year’s edition will be three days of Soccer, Fashion, Music, business and networking opportunities and fun. The plan this year is to make COPA Lagos more than just a beach soccer event but also to be a major spectacle that will put Nigeria on the global tourism map while promoting the beach culture and lifestyle in Lagos – more so as we plan ahead with the hope of staging the best ever beach soccer world cup in the nearest future.”

As organizers, we have diversified the scope beyond beach soccer games to include the complete fan experience – where all the participants and attendees amidst the myriad of activities will enjoy an event with a multi-dimensional focus. This was borne out of the Kinetic Sports’ management’s desire to showcase and support the ever-expanding fashion culture, Nigerian music and entertainment industry,

As a prelude to COPA Lagos, Kinetic Sports has also lined up several interesting activities including its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) event tagged “Clean the Beach”, which aims at conserving the beach, encouraging cleanliness in the environment and preserving marine life. The exercise will involve over 200 people – that includes beach soccer players, staff, sponsors, celebrities, influencers and other volunteers.

A Beach Soccer Kids’ Clinic – a training and mentorship programme for kids in Lagos State aimed at promoting and showcasing Beach Soccer to the younger generation. The Initiative will bring together over 100 kids between the ages of 8 and 14 years to the beach to play the sport with beach soccer stars and celebrity players acting as coaches and will teach them the importance of sports for mental development and education.

The exercise is in partnership with the Lagos State Sports Commission who will bring the kids from various schools in the coastal areas of Lagos State.

Other activities include a Grand Reception, Media Tour, After-Party and a Fashion Show.
